Critter Quest is a free, browser-based educational app for kindergarten and 3rd grade students. Children practice math and reading by completing quests and earning virtual coins and collectible critter cards. No account, login, or download required. Works on any device.
Kindergarten math: addition with sums up to 10, subtraction with non-negative differences. 3rd grade math: addition up to 500, subtraction up to 999, multiplication tables 1 through 12, division with whole number quotients. Each session has 10 questions with step-by-step scaffolding to guide kids through the problem-solving process.
Kindergarten reading: Dolch sight words, letter sounds, CVC word building. 3rd grade reading: vocabulary with definitions, spelling of commonly misspelled words, grammar questions. Reading quests use multiple-choice format with 10 questions per session.
Kids select a profile, choose a quest (math or reading), pick an operation or category, and answer 10 questions. Correct answers earn coins. At the end of each session, kids receive a collectible critter card based on their chosen animal theme. Cards have five rarity levels: common, uncommon, rare, epic, and legendary.
Choose from five animal themes: forest animals, ocean animals, farm animals, jungle animals, and arctic animals. Each theme features unique collectible critter cards and a personalized mascot.
Parents can set up a reward store with custom items kids can buy with earned coins. A PIN-protected parent hub provides access to store management. Multiple child profiles are supported on a single device, making it ideal for families.
Critter Quest was built for elementary school students in kindergarten through 3rd grade. It is particularly well-suited for students in the West Ada School District in Ada County, Idaho, but is used by families and teachers everywhere. The app is completely free with no ads, no subscriptions, and no in-app purchases.
